Celebrating Sisterhood
Diamond In The Rough's vision is to impact and transform the lives of girls and families globally, while creating a unique culture that fosters community and celebrates sisterhood.

Diamond In The Rough (DITR) desires to serve as a full resource for young girls, including but not limited to wayward and at-risk girls in elementary, post-secondary and high school. DITR's goals include the following:
- To provide a safe, structured, and conducive environment for youth to express themselves and learn and grow.
- To work in conjunction with the schools, parents, churches, corporations, and the community in creating future leaders.
- To offer long-term mentoring and training programs that will create life-long relationships and long-term results.
- To assist youth in becoming responsible, productive, successful adults through a complete holistic program.
- Help guide youth in making informed and intelligent decisions about their future.
- To teach and equip girls to tap into their God given gifts and talents and to live a purposeful life.
- To teach girls to love themselves as God does.
- To partner with other youth organizations and programs to aid and meet the full needs of our participants.

In 1995, Dr. Nicole Steele and a small group of friends starting a mentoring program called Sister To Sister, which provided bi-weekly mentoring at The Eastside Carver Boys & Girls Club in East Atlanta.
The group met over a period of six years and was successful in achieving its goals of developing lifelong relationship, and providing guidance, encouragement and support. Participants of that program have gone on to attend and graduate from college, establish careers, raise families and some have event gone on to become members themselves.
Seeing the lives of that group of girls totally transformed, was the inspiration for starting Diamond In The Rough, with a vision to impact and transform the lives of girls around the world.
DITR was birthed in 2001, and after extensive research, prayer and planning, launched its very first Gem Camp in 2003. In 2006, DITR was recognized as a 501(c)3 organization, and since its inception has successfully served nearly 10.000 girls and families with direct services, and over an addition 20,000 indirectly around the globe.
