Our Volunteer Program is an integral part of Diamond In The Rough (DITR). The success of our program and the number of youth we are able to effectively impact, largely relies on the number of caring, compassionate, and trained volunteers committed to our program. It is through the shared passion and a common goal of impacting and transforming our world…one child, one family, one community at a time, that our program will continue to succeed.
Volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to participate. Prior experience is not required. However, compassion, commitment and a willingness to make a positive impact on the lives of our youth is required. Live/In-Person and Virtual Opportunities are available on both a short and long-term basis in the following areas:
If you answered YES to any of the statements above, you might be a good fit for a DITR volunteer.
No, DITR offers both traditional "hands-on" volunteer opportunities like mentoring as well as "behind the scene" opportunities that don't require any connection with the youth we serve?
DITR does not currently provide volunteer opportunities for middle or high school students who are NOT current members of our program. We do host community service opportunities for members and youth leaders within the organization.
DITR accepts applications year round, however, we review and interview and onboard new volunteers THREE TIMES PER YEAR (April, August & December).
* NOTE applicants who do not response to the request for interview will be placed in a "pending status" through the following on boarding period. If there is no response after a 2nd round of interviews, the applicants applications will be removed.
We ask volunteers to commit to one fiscal calendar year (July - June) regardless of when they are on-boarded.
If you are a busy professional woman who believes in our cause but are limited on time, but still want to make an impact that will last a lifetime, consider applying to our CROWNS Council.
Applications are accepted year-round, however, new cohorts are placed annually. Click below to learn more about this special opportunity.
Members serving in the AmeriCorps VISTA program serve full time for one-year terms. They build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at the local level, and empower individuals and communities.
